MAKEUP HACKS YOU NEED TO KNOW
Makeup hacks! I asked you on instagram whether you want to see some of my favorite makeup hacks? The answer was yes, of course! We all love some good makeup hacks, don’t we? Even though we might be an expert in applying makeup, mistakes happen. But not to worry, here are my favorite makeup hacks that are worth trying!
1. MASCARA HACK
We all have that one day when we accidently hit the mascara on our eyelid while applying it. Don’t freak out! And most importantly don’t rush to remove it, instead wait and let it dry completely, then take a spoolie brush and gently remove it. Trust me guys, it works so beautifully without completely removing your eye makeup. Then, take a clean blending brush and just blend out the shadow together again especially in the area where you had the mascara on and re-apply little more shadow to re-intensify the color.
Does your mascara tends to transfer under your eye? I gotcha! The trick is to apply a translucent setting powder on your lower lashes. After applying your mascara let it dry a bit then, take a small eyeshadow brush and apply your translucent setting powder to the very tip of your lower lashes. What this does is, it prevents the mascara from transferring as setting powder is meant to lock your makeup.
2. GET THE MOST FLATTERING LIGHT
Glowy skin is here to stay! The secret of achieving a candlelit glow with makeup is to apply a finishing powder which reflects light. Take a finishing powder and apply it all over the face (after foundation, concealer and setting powder). My favorite is Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder which is infused with the innovative Photoluminescent Technology that captures, diffuses, softens and refines the look of the skin. Believe me, when I say its a red carpet ready look!
3. FIX POWDERY MAKEUP
Don’t we hate when our makeup looks powdery and doesn’t sinks in onto our skin? I always recommend to have a hydrating mist in your makeup bag. It will take away those powdery look and blends everything in your skin. My favorite is Mac Prep + Prime Fix+, its definitely an instant fix.
4. FIX OVERLINED LIPS
You can easily fix an over-lined lips with a concealer. Just take a small flat brush and clean the edges around your lips. Not only it will fix it but also it makes your lips look fuller.
5. COVER UP THE ROOTS
This is probably the coolest hack I have ever learned. You know, its so annoying to see a sparse area between your hair. The trick is to apply a matte eyeshadow that matches closely to your hair color on the roots and it covers up those sparse area. How cool is that!
6. HIGHLIGHT THE SKIN WITH A CONCEALER
Yes, concealer is meant to conceal the imperfections on the skin but it can also be used for highlighting. When applying a concealer, the trick is to apply it in a downward triangular shape. I suggest getting a concealer two shades lighter than your foundation which will not only conceal those dark circles but also highlights and lifts the face. Also, apply the concealer on the center of the forehead, chin and bridge of the nose.
7. MAKE YOUR LIPS LOOK BIGGER
Meet your lip-plumping BFF – your Cupid’s Bow. By dabbing just a tiny bit of highlighter on the middle of your upper lip will make your lips instantly look bigger, thanks to the light reflection of the highlighter.
8. MAKE YOUR LIPSTICK MATTE
Make any of your lipstick matte. Its very simple, tear the tissue into a piece just big enough to cover your mouth. Peel one layer of the tissue off and apply some translucent powder to your brush, and lightly dust it over the back of the tissue. Voila! the perfect matte lipstick.
